REJOINING THE MILITARY.

I am 41 years of age.

I served in the Air Force Reserve back in the late 1980s.

Everyone at some point should do some form of public service.

I am reconsidering joining the Military in some Guard or Reserve Capacity.

I have studied the documentation of the North Carolina National Guard.

It would seem that if you are prior military that they might take you back as say an officer.

I used to be disabled, but now I have had my disability corrected.

I am overweight, but its all muscle.

I stand about 6"6', see almost normal, and I am in good health.

I have a lousy job history, but lots of education and lots of indirect experience.

I get angry easily, but always correct on the second try.

I did not serve in Desert Storm and that is a personal failure.

I did not understand how stupid George Bush is in 2000 and I did not work hard enough to get rid of him in 2004.

I desecrated a lot of things in the last few years trying to housebroken him.

In my own military historian judgement, Iraq 1 was a qualified success and Iraq 2 is a disaster.

War is for professionals being in all the right positions and Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the neoconservatives think about war, but they do not practice it.

I am looking for a North Carolina National Guard Job as a Commissioned Officer, but waivers need to be put in place.

Human Resources says go where your talents lie.

Human Resources is all I do anymore.

That's what its all about: people.

At the beginning of World War II, I think Congress set up a draft for men and women from the ages of 18 to 50.

At the beginning of the civil war, the officer corp was filled with veterans who had retired after the Mexican War.

So yes age requirements can be changed to fit circumstances.

Yes, we all have ways of dealing with regulations and such.

This is my last blog at this website.

It is not that I do not want to continue blogging, but being in the military full time I am supposing is against regulations.  That is if you want to keep your job.

HEALTH: STEM CELLS.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

What do I think of stem cell research?

I think you should give the medical researchers about 20000 of the frozen embryos across the United States and destroy the other 400000.

Why?  It balances the sanctity of life with the needs of science.

I do not think prolife people see the beauty of this solution.  They get 92.5% of what they want, while medical researchers once and for all can test their collective theories on the medical utility of this approach.

Politics is the art of the possible rather than ideolgocal inflexibility.

Yes, someone has to pay the price for this research, but its limited.

In essence, politics its like Captain Pike in his quarters with the doctor in the pilot episode of Star Trek.  Treat each person like a human being, but that's hard to do with some people on the left and the right.

MAKING OF AMERICA: MARK TWAIN.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

The two dominant figures of the Gilded Age were Mark Twain and Prsident US Grant.

Grant was sort of the most influential politician of the time in or out of office.

Mark Twain was the most popular writer on issues with his trademark humor.

What did Mark Twain do?

He wrote books that by today's standards were coarse in their word usage, but he made good points.

A critic of the system or dissident or editorial writer has the skill of making problems and solutions visible to people who otherwise might not be able to grasp the problem.

Their are several noteworthy conservative writers today: George Will, Cal Thomas, Thomas Sowell, and Charles Krauthammer.

There are others, but a blog has limited usefulness to list them all.

Mark Twain blazed a trail in writing books on politics and all of its attendant issues.

A critiic of the system interested in using humor to force positive change on the nation.

In essence, a humorist who knew how to write good books on politics if you can get past the coarseness of some of the words.

NATION: CAMPAIGN 2008.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

The Catholic Vote is up for Grabs.

Who will Catholics vote for in this election.

You have Ted Kennedy who represent's the Liberal Wing

You have I think Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania who is a Catholic and Conservative.

If they follow their Priests teachings most likely their conservative and will vote for McCain.

If they have disagreements with the church hierarchy they will vote for Obama.

I do not know Catholic Doctrine all that well, but they do have strict principles when they hold religious training systems.

Deviation from Catholic Doctrine can lead to excommunicaton.  I am not sure of the precise wording.

Let's say the catholics have a 60% for Obama and 40% for McCain that represents 25% of the overall US Population.

In essence, can the catholic vote make a difference in the election.  Yes, but like every other voting group there is ambivalence towards both candidates.  No enthusiam.

IN THE ARENA: SUPPORT VETS RETURNING HOME.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

Veterans returning from the Persian Gulf face the same problem that veterans of other wars have faced.

Mental Health Issues.

Physical Injuries.

Education Issues.

Employment Issues.

Family reintegration Issues.

The Vets that return from WW II had a good deal.

The Vets that returned from Korea were treated reasonably.

The Vets returning from Vietnam were treated in a destructive fashion.

The Vets of Iraq I had their issue called Gulf War Syndrome.  I do not know what the resolution of that issue was.

Iraq II and Afghanistan Vets will have the same issues.

The movies about the post-Vietnam experience were numerous.  Born on the Fourth of July, Platoon, The Killing Fields.

They were not patriotic movies, but the dark side of war and its after effects.

Iraq II and Afghanistan Vets will need to be reintegrated into society, but its going to cost money.

If you ask an individual to go to war then he needs help in peace.

COMMENTARY: HOW TO STOP ROBERT MUGABE.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

I would venture to say that direct military action against Mugabe is out of the question.

I would say that more economic sanctions would not hurt that country's elite, but it would hurt the population.

I would say that England is the former colonial master of Zimbabwe and they might not want us messing with their client state.

Yes, Mugabe is a problem, but our tools are limited in how to deal with him other than through diplomacy.

Sanctions starve the people, but not Mugabe.

Patience is a virtue rather than a sin.

Unfortunately, 3rd World Contries have to be left alone to deal with their own problems.  Iraq.

In essence, let's wait out the civil war in Zimbabwe and/or let the Europeans take the lead.  They know how to deal with issues of subtlety better than Americans and myself are able to do.

TUNED IN  CRITIQUES OF CELEBRITY ECOTAINMENT.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

Why do celebrities turn their attention to issues like the environment.

It pays dividends in public relations.

Its a form of public service.

It helps to sell their entertainment franchises.

It might be a way to pay back for all the success they have had in life.

The problem comes in when they go overboard on criticism of say Republicans.

It is a fact or legend that Hollywood's power elite are overwhelmingly liberal.

Are these actors, models, and other public figures beholden to this elite.

It might be the truth or it might indicate group think.

Who know's?

Charleton Heston was big for the NRA, while Alec Baldwin is big in Liberal Causes.

It seems that Conservatives do not come into the open in the business of entertainment.

In essence, Hollywood's second tier people control the Celebrities paychecks and you do not bite the hand that feeds you.

THE QUESTION OF IRAN.

I suggest that we leave the Iranian President continue making an joke out of himself, while we let Bush continue to act as a joke.

We have to keep in mind that Ali Khamenei of Iran is the real power, but he stay's in the background some of the time.

Bush vs. Ahminejad.  Mano e. Mano.

Just stand back and leave them fight it out like to idiots on a rhetorical bais.

Keep weapons frozen.

Let these two guys make a mess of their own historical reputations.

In essence, Bismarck of Germany would say let mutual antagonisms run their course.

OBAMA AND THE RADICALS.

In Gore Vidal's Licoln, it ended several years after Lincoln's death and the subject of Andrew Johnson and the Anti-Slavery Republicans came up.

One of Lincoln's former aides commented that only Mr. Lincoln could control the Radicals in Congress.

Meaning, Lincoln would throw a bone to the radicals on ocassion to keep them happy.

The minority has the music and the majority has the votes.

The minority in this case are the Liberals who are more vocal than the moderates who have the votes as the majority.

Obama will say that I have no policy and I do not control events, but events control me.

This phenomenon can be found in Louis Napoleon in France in the 1850s.

Pit one faction against another faction, while retaining true power for yourself.

Its the illusion of saying one thing to one crowd and another thing to another crowd.

Tell somebody in Miami, Florida one thing and then go to Seattle, Washington and tell that crowd something else.

In essence, do what you have to win and never mind the facts.

POLITICS: OBAMA AND BILL CLINTON MAKE NICE.

Time. Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

Obama is the man who buried the Clinton dynasty.

Clinton is the only democrat 2 term president in 60 years.

Can they reach a modus operandi?

What do you do with Bill Clinton?

You can't shoot him, imprison him, or exile him.

No, you make him ambassador to Mongolia.

Get him out of your hair as much as possible.

Whose the more skilled at political manuever?

Bill play's hearts from what I remember.  Obama plays poker or craps.

Bill has 25 years on the world stage, while Obama has 3 years.

In the end, it will not matter because Obama will return to the Senate and Bill will continue his days of souless wondering.

VERBATIM.

Time.  Title Abstract. Personal Opinion.

Will Smith on playing Obama, Bloomber on a Horrifying Video.

Who wants to play Obama in the movies?

Would it be thrilling to play the man of the moment?

The answer is yes.  That is if you include his dark side as well as his light side.

A Person's dark side is rarely explored by Hollywood unless your talking about Nixon.

There are examples of dark sides of people's personalities.

William Shatner did it as Captain Kirk in an early episode.  Tom Welling has done it on Smallville.  Michael Rosenbaum has done it with Lex Luthor.

Showing the person's good side along with his dark side is only fair.  You usually find it coming out in odd places.

Videos of crimes, fires, and general bloodletting have been a part of American Culture since Vietnam.

I'd say people are numb to them or warped by them over time.

You see it in movies, tv shows, and on the internet.

America has become a balkanized culture due to the variety of communication mediums.

I will own a cell phone, computer with internet, and satellite television.

But, I will not own an IPOD or other such contraption.

Communications Technology has become too pervasive in our society for our own good.

In essence, an IPOD or other such item is a luxury or novelty.  I want the basics of technology rather than the clutter.

THE WORLD.

Wildfires Northern California; a French Court finds eBay over fake designer bags.

Time Magazine. Current Issue.  Title Abstract.  Personal Opinion.

California has fires every year.

California seems to be using logistics to get the job done.

Universities teach this science, but its mainly used by the military.

eBay is a business.

It along with Amazon.com are the two biggest retailers on the web.

Auctions and the pushing of merchandise.

The Internet is a communications medium, but it has so many angles to it.

The great thing about it is eBay.  The lousy thing about it is the porn sites

There is no way to decide what to do about the internet's dark side other than to try and regulate it.

This would be the job of the Federal Communications Commission, but they do not have a big enough budget for manpower.

Regulation is the bridge between thought control and freedom.

Its not the best alternative, but it is the most effective in terms of not violating free speech.

In essence, some FCC regulation is better than shutting down the internet entirely or shutting down all fun websites.

THE END OF THE IRAQ WAR, EXCEPT FOR BUSH.

Bush always takes a hardline position on Iraq.

No one knows the issue better than he does or so he thinks.

I suggest a redeployment of 50000 soldiers and marines to Afghanistan as a start.

Such a move at the least would bring McCain enough public support to continue the Republican Control of the White House.

The remaining 100000 could be stationed on bases inside Iraq, until Bush leaves office.

The idea is to gradual reduction of force strength redeployments.

Bush sees Iraq as jumpoff point into Iran, Syria, and other nations in the area.

The problem is the fact that Al Qaida is on the run everywhere in the world.

What was the reason for the Iraq War?

Weapons of Mass Destruction, Get Saddam/lackeys, the oil, and a base for the wider war against Islamic Fascism.

Osama Bin Laden was the catalyst for a lot of this military activity in the Middle East.

Bush does not want people to know this, but Osama Bin Laden was picked up in Pakistan over 2 years ago and moved to an island in the Indian Ocean where he was executed by the British.

A Congressman or Senator told me that a little over a year and a half ago.

In essence, Bush won the war, but he does not want anyone to know that because he wants to set the course of foreign policy for a generation.

THE MOMENT: WHAT THE MESS AT GROUND ZERO SAYS ABOUT THE US.

Most of these blogs come from the table of contents in the new issue of Time Magazine.

Ground Zero is a holy place to those who lost their lives on 9/11.

It is controlled by the politics of New York City.

That mean's people want to build something for the greater good and self interest.

The Unions have so many rules that that obstruct's a rebuilding effort.

The developers each want to make money off the project and fight it out throughout the entire city, state, and federal levels.

Its called red tape.

I for one am tired of all the solemn rituals that place has had over the last five years.

A memorial is needed, but one that reflect's everyone's desires.

In essence, union rules, developers egos, and city laws are going to have to be suspended for any movement to finish the project begins.

The Courts would be the appropriate avenue.  An injunction maybe.

GLOBAL WARMING.

Its a safe bet everyoune doesn't know enough about global warming as a force to make a rational judgement.

I wonder if we repopulated the planet with plant life and trees if that might balance greenhouse gas emissions.

Its a small point, but a big point.

Particularly, if you understand that half of the forest land on the planet in 1800 is gone in 2008.

In essence, reforestoration is necessary to balance out all the negative things people have been doing for hundreds of years.

We did not start the problem in our generation, but we need to correct it as much as possible.

Trees purge the atmosphere of carbon monoxide, which is the main force for global warming.
