Sovereignty.
 
A nation as such has the right to maintain its independence and security from all threats foreign and domestic.
 
A nation cannot invade another country and strip it of its sovereignty.
 
A government cannot sacrifice a part of its sovereignty even if it appears to be beneficial to its own citizenry (NAFTA).
 
A government must be run by elected officials at all times because they answer to the voters.
 
A nation's sovereignty can be maintained through security agreements as long as do not tread on sovereignty (NATO).
 
Sovereignty is about the freedom of individual nations to compete economically, socially, and materially without causing war or bloodshed.
 
International Organizations do not have the right to impose their will on member nations, unless a member commits a horrendous act (The Kuwait War).
 
International Organizations cannot enforce environmental standard on member states, unless the citizens of that member nation agree to it.
 
Sovereignty says that elected officials in a world as a diverse and anarchial as ours have the last say on international law rather than diplomats or bureaucrats.
 
Sovereignty was the issue of the American Revolution, French Revolution, Germany under Bismarck, the Russian Revolution, and every Revolution since then.
 
Sovereignty guarantees a nation's citizens the right to decide their own affairs internally and externally.
