Libertarian Republican #279

Presidential Debates

If I was McCain, I would stick to my guns on the townhall debate format.

If I am not mistaken, Democrat President Candidates usually start out ahead in the election campaign.

For some mysterious reason, the public likes to flirt with Liberals, but like's to elect Republicans.

I do not know if this is a cardinal rule or if its merely happenstance.

If Gerald Ford had another week, he could have won the 1976 election.

The Public was indifferent to Ford, but at the late stage of that campaign they suddenly realized or decided Carter was not fit to command.

Bill Clinton was lauded for his management of the economy, but by every other measure people did not see him as a strong leader.

His two opponents in the Republican Camp were weaker than the candidates the Republicans usually put forward.

The terrain at the Presidential Level seems to favor Republicans starting with Eisenhower in 1952.

In 2008, McCain is a veteran on a lot of issues good and bad where Barry is a flash in the pan.

McCain is a low key Mario Cuomo whereas Obama is Eugene McCarthy (Maybe).

McCain's experience and apparent youth give him an edge on Barry's youth and inexperience.

McCain needs to develop a limited and directed outward humor.

Reagan was not a nice guy because he used humor that was directed at his opponents weak points.

Humor at your opponents expense.

I say McCain needs to turn up the heat on Barry, while waiting him out in terms of townhalls.
