Property Taxes are unconstitutional and they are regressive.
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Or so the saying goes. That last part was originally stated as the pursuit of property.
Local Governments from what I know can only tax property: Cars and Real Estate. Or some kind of sales tax.
If your going to tax property then you do not take into account the property owner's income, family size, or any other number of factors.
Property Taxes in my state are a problem.
The State Legislature reduce's them and does not give our counties and cities any other options for revenue.
Personally, I would do away with the property tax altogether and institute a flat tax on income. Its fairer and more balanced approach.
