I thought of something earlier in that Iraq has been quiet in recent weeks.
I mean it is still on TV and in the Newspaper, but its not registering as a negative event.
If this continues over the next six months then it might not be won, but that its just a problem.
Last year, it was a crisis that called for action.
If the Iranians and the Arab States are not supplying terrorists and armaments then the Iraq War is within the bounds of a middle problem.
People in the United States may have become numb to it as an issue.
They may have lost interest because it is a never ending story of simmering feuds and terrorist acts.
Patterns of Force would lead me to believe that the Jihadists have lost their benefactors in the wider Muslim World, but this could be a temporary situation for the United States.
A ratcheting down of the Iraq War leads to a stronger Republican vote in the fall.
At that point, the Wider War on Terror takes on more importance as does the economy.
Iraq will never be jewel in the Republican Crown, but it can be kept from continuing as a tumor.
