Constructive Years

Good paying jobs are hard to find in the current economy.

Reagan provide's a good model for job creation although there is some dispute on how high paying they were and in what areas of the economy they were in.  Shall we say service industry jobs.

Clinton is a good model for job creation, but his economic policies were not an original blend.  They were Alan Greenspan's ideas from the 1950s.  Specifically, Eisenhower Economic Policies.

Eisenhower had 3 short recessions, but they were corrected by the use of his economic philosophy.

Raymond J. Saulier detail's in his writings on Eisenhower.

Republicans would do well to get back to these ideas, which do not include massive tax cuts.  Although Eisenhower was for tax cuts.

Peace, Prosperity, and Progress were his motto.

Politicians in the 60s went to one extreme, drifted in in the 1970s, and went to the other extreme in the 1980s.

For the most part, I consider Eisenhower as a Libertarian and I consider Reagan to a lesser extent a Libertarian.

Libertarians like me believe in smaller government, social tolerance, and a self-defense posture in foreign policy.

Reagan and Eisenhower I think followed these principles as best as they could considering the political environment they operated in
